Maybe I don't see the unveiling of the cauldron before I go to China.
If not, I am going to watch every day to the National stadium to look if it's already unveiled.

I have to say that now that the Stadium is finished it, it is fairly good looking. Its not a new shape but the idea of an interlacing design has been well done.

The red is a little off-putting but it is the Chinese national colour, so its understandable that there is a considerable amount of red.

As for the cauldron, it will be mechanical and will be stunning but I think that this will be another lighting that is going to get traditionalist up in arms again.

They AREN'T going to unveil that formally. As you can see, it's been covered up and will make itself known on 08/08/08.

Are they still going ahead with the cloud seeding thing? Is there any chance that it works and if so, when should we expect the rain?

You know, it's GLOBAL WARMING, there's even no scientific garanttee for any sudden change of the climate. But generally the reason why BEIJING picks 08/08/2008 is in fact purely based on the rather stable historical records of local history, not as other rumours spreading the lucky 8 mystery. However, since the mother nature is gettin high in China and the rest of the world this year, there's no doubt of the potential adjusting plan. I heard about the chance of Beijing going to rain on that day might be around 44%~ so they might go ahead with that thing in case of it.

Just recently saw the news about the heat wave goes on in Greece at this time, well~it's just unpredictable after all

actually, if it rains, doesn't that then clear out the smog and the pollution? So why pre-empt the rain?
