Quite a profitable agreement for both sides. A classical win-win situation!

"Beijing 2008" will earn more promotion through a historical football team. Moreover, publicity will focus on the fact that this will be the first time ever that FC Barcelona will put advertisement on its T-Shirt! Not to ignore of course the fact that Barcelona (the city) organized MAGNIFICENT Games in 1992 and this connection hides a lot of symbolism.

And FC Barcelona will be benefited much more than the money that it will receive. It will "invade" in a huge and aggressively opening market, the Chinese one. T-Shirts and other stuff that will be sold there will make Mr. Laporta much richer...

Another weird thing that Barcelona can kinda claim to - the best moment of the Atlanta Olympics - the flag handover segment for Atlanta was fantastic.  Bummer the actual Games proper werent quite up to that standard.

Probably the coolest Barcelona moment - the closing ceremony where Cobi is on that big silver boat balloon and it kinda hit the crowd before bouncing back up into the air.

The Olympic flame flared up in June'92, in the Temple of Hera, in Ancient Olympia; after that, the flame stayed four days in Greece, until it arrived in Athens (in the Panathinaiko Stadium the flame was officially handled to COOB'92). Then, the frigate "Catalunya" took the torch from the Pireus to the coast of Spain. The 13th of June the flame arrived in Empúries, the first colony that the Greeks founded in the Iberian Peninsula (600 bc).
During the following 40 days, the flame covered more than 5000 km, visiting the 17 capitals of the Spanish Autonomous Regions and the 15 subsees. the 24th of July the flame arrived in Barcelona's port, one day before the opening ceremony.

The only ceremonies that TVE shows are the Opening and Closing ones (except in 1992, obviously, when it showed almost everything about the Expo and the Games).

It will be interesting if this happens again at the 2003 World Police and Fire Games. These Games have more sports than the Summer Olympic Games in its overall program.

Some of those in Canada still remember that shining moment at Montjuic Olympic Stadium when Mark McKoy (sp?) won the gold medal in the men's 110m hurdles event. It was the first time in a very long time the Canadian national anthem was played in the main stadium.

...and then, there was the scene where Seoul let hundreds of doves out, and a few of them flew into the flames of the Olympic cauldron!
