Is this an actual thing that'sgoing to happen, or is it just some guy's dream he's trying to get Mayor Livingstone to embrace?

I cant see the pictures because my computers playing up, but I remember there has been an idea to run a mono rail down Regent St for some time .From the little bit I did see outside Liverpool St station ,it looks like a good idea.

Looks like Delhi might beat London to it:

In view of possible terrorism scenarios, I would favor an over-the-rail monorail rather than a hanging one. IMHO.

I'm with Baron. I love London's mass transit, but this plan looks super vulnerable to attack. Honestly, it seems more like a pipe-dream than anything else.

I honestly don't get what difference that would make! Please, can you explain your reasoning B?

Well, monorails where the trains ride over the tracks generally have thicker, more solid tracks whereas the version pictured here, runs on a thinner, slimmer track. I mean you can cause far greater damage, death and destruction if you easily disengage the cars from the overhead track. Whereas, if you blow up cars riding over thicker rails (mostly on concrete pylons), the damage would probably be sustained only above -- on the tracks or to the cars themselves -- thereby sparing people and vehicles underneath and/or having the undamaged cars slip down in a 'hanging' set-up if you manage to, say, untangle the first or the last cars. It's kinda hard to explain -- but that's the best I can do. In other words, I think with a monorail running the regular way, damage and radial destruction can be minimized vs. the hanging model.
