International Games Archives reports that the Nigerian teams' funding for the 2006 Commonwealth Games is in crisis mode. According to it, the main training camp for them is closed "indefinitely" because of lack of funding. This may not be good for its chances of getting the bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Maybe they've run out of people to bilk?  :wwww:  Have you ever had those Nigerian funding schemes show up on your email?  I have --and I turned them over quickly to the FBI.
Not in my e-mail, baron, but I have heard of them over the years on TV news. If they tried to pull that stunt on me, I would do the same thing, too. Believe me, I don't think they are the only ones doing it in the world.

:) Abuja's main stadium is a direct carbon copy of the KL98 stadium, it was built by the Malaysians.

The velodrome is controversial in that it's roof has collapsed during a world class event.

Still if Nigeria can get things right, there is no reason why they cannot host the 2014 games.  It would be great to see a long break in the traditional hosting circut, following on from India.
lol! so true... it's as if the kl stadium seatings are painted with orange/yellow/red hues... exact copy... even the velodrome looks a bit like the kl aquatic center..

The day Nigeria wins the bid is the day someone from Nigeria scams me of my finances! Ain't gonna happen. :blues:

Countrys will only vote if the bid is VIABLE. I don't think it is.
Nigeria is about as reliable as a trabant car anyway, there are endless wars in the oil fields to the south, and Abuja is a dump. Lagos would be a far better candidate. I don't think they'd win. SINGAPORE WHY DON'T YOU BID?!?!?

Abuja is a fine modern city though, finished in the eighties. It is shaped like a crescent and points towards Mecca. Pakistan gives it a vote then!  :)
