Olympic Fan Darcy
Wow...has it made it all around the world already? This **** has only existed for like a week. Quite the opposite and not sure why this is only getting attention now. Been around for over a month. I remember last month it "killed" someone. But it was actually just cause the guy drank a lot of alcohol after. http://www.odt.co.nz/news/national/308951/man-dies-after-ice-challenge But yeah this **** is getting annoying. What's also annoying is that in many countries it's not actually called ALS, mostly just america. Like in Australia it's actually called MND. And then they have to ask people to donate to them instead of ALS. So it's quite annoying for them.
Rob2012
It is getting ridiculous. Just ask celebs to donate money FFS They've raised £25m. Somehow I don't think just asking slebs to give money - something they'll get asked all the time - would've had the same outcome.
Alexjc
Been round since June, in NZ it was for the Cancer Society charitable trust. Got dangerously ridiculous when it also became a drinking game...and someone lost their life...made worse the fact it's wintertime here! Have to admit Potus43 was a good sport doing it. baron-pierreIV
Kinda corny and in places where water is a premium commodity, it's just plain stupid. Enuf already.
Quaker2001
This whole ice bucket thing is definitely a gimmick.. but it's a gimmick that is raising a lot of money for charity that wouldn't have been raised otherwise if not for the gimmick. I've heard people say why can't everyone just donate money to charity and not dump a bucket of water over themselves? Well, if this all hadn't gone viral, that wouldn't be happening. I rip on social media all the time that the nature of these things is pretty stupid, but in a case like this where it's actually producing a useful result, I'm okay with it, even if it's really corny. baron-pierreIV
Did Obama do it, yet? No. The State Dept. decreed that the President and US ambassadors are NOT going to do the stunt. Indeed, it is very un-statesperson-like.

paul
A Terrorist Horror, Then Golf: Incongruity Fuels Obama Critics-NYT WASHINGTON — He had just hung up the telephone with the devastated parents before heading in front of the cameras. Unusually emotional, President Obama declared himself “heartbroken” by the brutal murder of an American journalist, James Foley, and vowed to “be relentless” against Islamic radicals threatening to kill another American. But as soon as the cameras went off, Mr. Obama headed to his favorite golf course on Martha’s Vineyard, where he is on vacation, seemingly able to put the savagery out of his mind. He spent the rest of the afternoon on the links even as a firestorm of criticism erupted over what many saw as a callous indifference to the slaughter he had just condemned. NOT - cool. Scary. baron-pierreIV
/\/\ Oh please. So what is he supposed to do? Sulk and go into seclusion because of Mr. Foley's reprehensible demise? So, is he NOT entitled to a private life like you and me?? Damned if does; and damned if he doesn't. At least he gets back on track.
paul
...well would it be too difficult and disruptive for his leisure schedule to not be in a position to be photographed laughing it up on the golf course mere hours after a speech where (as the NYT pointed out) he declared himself “heartbroken” by the brutal murder of an American journalist, James Foley, and vowed to “be relentless” against Islamic radicals threatening to kill another American. The disengagement of this president is embarrassing. the only reason I posted this recent incident of Mr Obama's poor judgement and likely insincerity was in response to another poster saying "he is supposed to be the hip and cool President...", it is clearer every day that he is neither. Alexjc
Isn't this horrible event now a UK led investigation?...The United States assistance provided by their massive intel networks. Also running simultaneously were events in Ferguson, a far more explosive situation domestically. President made a statement on this horrible tragedy and considering those ISIS monsters may have other hostages, has said no more so as not to encourage them to produce another spectacle?
