I would prefer Cape Town. Why wouldn't you put your best city forward? Although Durban has some more sports infrastructure, it seems they still have to do almost everything.

SASCOC are doing this as an overall bid planning for all major sporting events over the next 17 years, not just for Olympics. Therefore i am sure the process will be looking into best cities for many different events. Besides the more international stature of Cape Town over Durban and its setting, it has nothing else going for it over Durban for a bid. This circular discussion as been had many times here, this exercise by the committee will hopefully close the book once and for all on where the stand

I'm sure the USOC is following with great interest.

Good start. Hopefully we don't see the same thing play out as their 2020 "quote on quote" bid.
In that one SASCOC were going on their own mission with no consultation at all with government, so they were making all the noise without talking to anyone that would actually pay for it (i.e. Government). That is happening this time. So if they say they will be planning to bid for XYZ, they would have been talking to gov already this time

SA police killed not only workers but whole reputate she has for years ın my eyes. its not the country of mandela..

The Persian name was Dersaadet—Door to the Ultimate Happiness. The Greeks called it Teofilaktos—City Guarded by God; the Romans, Nuova Roma—New Rome; the Arabs, Farrouk—City Separating Two Continents; and the Ottoman Turks, Ummti-diinya—Mother of the World. Now, and since 1923 when the Turkish Republic formally renamed it, it is called Istanbul, meaning just The City—as though there were none other to compare.

The 2020 thing is a red herring. What we saw in 2020 was a city, Durban, trying to force SASCOC and the SA government's hand. This is no different to what Las Vegas did for 2020 to the USOC, or what Tulsa is trying to do now.Good start. Hopefully we don't see the same thing play out as their 2020 "quote on quote" bid.
There was no planned bid from SA in 2020. Simply a city trying to force a bid.
When South Africa bids, it will be clear and thoughful - just like the 2004 bid.

Actually SASOC chose Durban as their candidate. It was SASOC who fours in Cain to persuade the government -- not Durban. All the archived Gamesbids news stories support this. It was nothing like Las Vegas' ill-considered, rogue bid attempt.
SO IRRITATED. Auto-correct.
It was SASOC who tried in vain to persuade the government -- not Durban. This situation was nothing like Las Vegas.
