Yep, looking forward to Rio's handover. Fully expect it to top our effort from Beijing.

But is that really the Games' slogan? Very strange choice given the historical resonances of that phrase.

Our handover was just awful. I wish Rio all the very best. One bit of advice, be ready for lots of - often unfair - criticism.

I don't think so... It is just a catchphrase to promote the city's redevelopment.

Any good hotels for foreigners in Rio? Might start saving up for a visit. I still remember 3 words in Spanish...

Olympics fan since 2002.

Winter Olympics -|- Salt Lake City, Torino, Vancouver

Summer Olympics -|- Athens, Beijing, London

There will be plenty of nice hotels, since most of Rio hotels are just closed by now for refurbshment, expansions...
More, new hotels have been built.

I posted some pics in "Work in Progress" thread.

The motto is not the slogan.

In Brazil, nobody speaks Spanish... About 99% of our population speaks Portuguese and 90% Portuguese ONLY and no English

"A City Leaps Forward" doesn't seem to me like a great PR approach -- no matter how it factors in to their organizational strategy. Makes it sound like they're backward now and have a lot of catching up to do...

"...unforgettable, dream Games..."

Or is that the theme of the handover? Always seems to me that a Games slogan isn't introduced until the final year before hosting.
