Kari Seitz will enjoy the honour of taking charge of the opening football match of London 2012 when she referees the tussle between hosts Team GB and New Zealand tomorrow, the FIFA Organising Committee for Olympic Football Tournaments has announced.

I would say 80% empty. Expected more for a Great Britain match...

That attendance is pretty humiliating. You'd think people would turn out to see their own team. Hard to imagine a stadium here being anywhere near that empty for a team USA game, and soccer isn't all that popular here. In any event, you'd think the locals would turn out just for the event. After all, when are the Olympics ever likely to be in a place like Cardiff again?

The game is underway. Its cool to see New Zealand competing in the opening game. Yes the crowd is a bit disappointing, but lets hope it is a good game.

Go Kiwis!
