THen if it's a well thought-out bid, and the planners have the correct foresight, and are not promising more than they can deliver, they should include those contingencies, unaccountables in there. That way there are no morning-after surprises for everyone concerned. We have to remember that the 2012 Games are seven years away and plans are bound to change, as they did in Athens, as circumstances allow.

Sorry, but London 2012's preparations WILL exceed the amounts professed to the IOC, but in reality every bid and host has had that happen. It's common knowledge between the bids, the IOC, and governments that "Yeah. We'll TRY for this much..." :For goodness' sake this is pathetic.
Baron, you have taken an article which suggests something may happen in the future and attempted to present it as some kind of smoking gun akin to finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
The article is pure speculation. It doesn't even have a comment from London 2012! Now can you please stop this sore loser performance. It is boring.

Not if you have a good Organizing Committee. It's very difficult to make a good budget 7 years before the games.

What a hideous thought.
As long as none of the venues *look* like the Scottish Parliament.Building costs always overrun in Britain (scot parliment, wembley, etc) but at least everything gets finished, unlike most of the Athens venues
*shudder.*
