Yes.

I don't tweet a lot myself, but I treat it as a newfeed for things I'm interested in; I follow about 350 people now. Always have a tab with it open.

Well, in my last job (that year working in hell between the newspaper and the mag I'm at now), I was in charge of the company's Twitter strategy - which basically involved pressure and targets to gain a set number of new followers each day regardless of whether we had anything to say or not - it was stupid. I've been a rare user since then (maybe half a dozen tweets on #gamesbids during comp comp times). The trouble is with a lot of corporate social media strategies, is it seems there's pressure to implement it for the sake of it - to be "with it" - than thinking through a real purpose and benefit for doing so. I've sen some good uses made of social media, but also a lot of useless attempts at it.

Personally, despite for my job having to have kept my fingers on the pulse of tech and social media developments, I'm of a generation that never really had the need or opportunity to use tech to maintain my social life. GamesBids excepted (I do feel I have some good friends here).

you see, it's like show pony but with krow. i thought it was funny for like three seconds, and all the good names are taken (i did forget to check krohmygod).

basically, i just joined to tell people about my recent trip to burger king and how ridiculous i think it is that in every xfiles episode in the 2nd season mulder and scully are always this close to dying but then some deus ex machina pulls through somewhere between 41:30 and 42:30, so they can wrap up by 44:00.
