Is it time for a 2024 Summer Olympics bid race?

This time making proper full scale bid books?

You could form teams of up to 4 if you like.

And to make it easier, you can choose if you want to do the old format, or the new one, you will still be judged on content the same. I will be trying the new one.

For those who don't want to do too much hard research, you can cheat by using some of the past bidders.

Naturally, no recent bidders, so those in the current race, 2016 and 2012 are out. No recent hosts too.

Make a professional looking logo, or do an Istanbul and make none. Your bid book must have a consistent design throughout, with all the necessary information, appropriate maps and charts. Information for specifics such as meteorology, hotel rooms, transport infrastructure etc may be skewed from "real figures", but try to put in some effort in attempting to obtain such information. The internet is your friend! Many countries have statistic sites which might assist, or if using a past bidder, cheat!

Let's say a end of March deadline to nominate your city, with say 2 or 3 months to work on the bid book, a submission deadline yet to be determined, with a neutral body producing a Candidate list from the Acceptance Report? Then we could be at around June/July Olympics season for the vote? Or is this too much?

Discuss! :)

PM me with sexy ideas. serious applicants only. no sense of humor preferred.

It's a lot of bloody work and many technical issues involved. I mean I can barely get to open those new Istanbul files.

Well, good luck, LD. I'll just stay on the sidelines for this one.

I like the idea of a bid book comp, but it would be good if it was done like the past few, the prev 2024 and most recent winter 2022, where i think we had a 3 page applicant submission, then a shortlist and the final bid books were about 10-12 pages and we had some campaigning.

Anything over this length would certainly take too much of my time, and it might have the same problems for others. And the timing also, having it finish in June July might just be a bit too long, as people eventually start to loose interest if it i drawn out too long.

Just some thoughts.

^^ That's why you can collaborate with each other. Form teams of up to 4 to make it easier. Give each team member a specific section or task to do.

I would like be on a team, but I mainly want to deal with the look of the document or maybe the logo. So if anyone else has a specific bid in mind, I would like to join that team.
