It was such a close call between Katrina, Dana and Carola. All of them completely wonderful, I went for Katrina.

I'm starting to regret my choice already, I think I should have gone for Carola. I am also thinking that it's a shame Amina is not in the list. I know she didn't win, but she did tie for 1st place and only lost out on a technicality.

Katrina and the Waves, clearly. Paul Harrington & Charlie McGettigen are on second place for me, Niamh Kavanagh on third. Oh, the memories of that "Irish" decade in ESC history! "Rock n Roll Kids" were the most memorable winning song and winning moment for me -- winning with such a beautifully melancholic song in front of one's home audience: priceless.

Remarkable that the winning songs of the 90s never made me really cringe (as opposed to the 80s winning songs) -- although I consider the 80s the better and more interesting musical decade.

Lycka till, Loreen! (representing Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012)

lol this time i have a different taste. voted for nocturne...
The Persian name was Dersaadet—Door to the Ultimate Happiness. The Greeks called it Teofilaktos—City Guarded by God; the Romans, Nuova Roma—New Rome; the Arabs, Farrouk—City Separating Two Continents; and the Ottoman Turks, Ummti-diinya—Mother of the World. Now, and since 1923 when the Turkish Republic formally renamed it, it is called Istanbul, meaning just The City—as though there were none other to compare.

Rock n Roll kids bored me to death. It was my least memorable winning moment of the 90's, even worse than Eimmar Quinn. (Oh for god's sake, stop breathing so heavy woman)

I agree with Lee... for me, Rock'n Roll Kids and The Voice are one of the worst winning songs...

I voted for Carola... hard choice between "In your eyes", "Diva" and "Love shine a light".

Special mention to "Vuelve conmigo", "Fiumi di parole", "Se pa mig" and "Ik wil alles met je delen" which didn't make it.

I know that "Rock N Roll Kids" drew many negative reactions -- I still find that surprising. I found the song very charming and the story behind it even touching -- namely that they won against the odds even of their own nation. Weren't the Irish hoping in fact they wouldn't have to host the ESC again?

I had a very different view. All I could think of was - Oh no, not bloody Ireland again. I wouldn't have mided so much, but the song was just very dull. IMO.
