If you were president of the International Olympic Committee what sort of legacy would you leave?

I think the IOC does a pretty good job of picking the hosts, balancing tested hosts with new frontiers, balancing atmosphere and athletes' wants with future growth. They're self-sufficient, everyone wants to host, and the Olympic brand couldn't be stronger. It's not like when Samaranch came in, when the Olympics needed a new direction.

If I had to make something my project, I'd continue to tackle corruption within the IOC, the NOCs and the IFs, and keep the host organizing committees accountable to the promises made during the bidding process (ie Beijing). I'd want the IOC to be known for upholding social responsibility.

Agree, the IOC is in a much better place than it was even a decade or two ago, but just for fun, what things would you attempt to implement?

For me, I would work to allow IOC members to visit bid cities as long as they were with IOC "handlers".

I would promote more cost conscious plans to reign in the excessive spending on bids.

I would get rid of the God awful DNA YOG emblem.

...just to name a few to start.

I would try to invest in training facilities in undeveloped countries, sometime they have the potential but oportunities are really low, create school that support sport 100% something in Latin America doesnt exist, you dont have permitions to go to competitions cuz they are not gonna pass you the test you has on that day. So work on that!

I will stop the new frontiers for a while... Just make the best quality for athletes win.

And not follow FIFA's steps aka corruption...

By saying i will stop new frontiers i mean for a decade or less 2 games only... Cuz they mean developement for us (undeveloped nations)

For example: Istanbul 2020 (new frontier); then Toronto/Paris 2024, classic; Tokyo 2028, classic too; THEN Durban 2032....

I would completely restructural the organization.

There are 5 continental organizations PASO, EOC, ANOCA, OCA and ONOC. Each of these have full participation of all NOC's within their region. The 5 bodies should elect IOC members from within their own NOC heads.

Membership within the IOC should be:
18 African NOC presidents
16 PASO NOC presidents
16 Asian NOC presidents
22 European NOC presidents
4 OCA NOC presidents
35 Presidents of the IFs
21 at large members (people like Rogge, el Moutawakel etc.)
8 current or recently retired athletes.
130 members. No more, and all but 21 of them non-permentant.
You still maintain a large body of Olympic knowledge (probably more so since you don't have 20 or 30 royals in the mix) and the IFs and NOCs, the basis of the Olympic movement have the largest say in its going's on.

130 members.

I believe the IOC Charter limits it to 115 members; and they've sort of respected that number.

GBForums have been boring lately... Miss the good discussions and points. The nice follow-ups on buildings and so on...
Now we have only chat with trolls or weeks without the old good boys posting...
So I'm giving a break, but I'll be back soon. Meanwhile I'll be around in SkyScrapercity, where no trolling and city vs. city is allowed.

Yeah, after 108 years, I guess YOU could lead the charge. Keep us posted on your efforts.

Danny, NOT all prospective host cities are coastal cities. Beijing and London are not. Baku, Tokyo, Madrid and Paris are NOT. So how would you accommodate MORE "beach" sports??

It's a hypothetical. If you're the IOC prez and you think Faster's suggestion is the way to go, you change the Charter. You can change it with as little as 39 votes.

And you don't need a coast to have a beach. Isn't London having beach volleyball outside Buckingham Palace? And Berlin and Paris have had man-made beaches along the Spree and Seine in the summer before.
