It's the Final Countdown! And, Wow! What a final we've been set up for!

Posted Image

I have checked all votes in our unexpectedly delayed and extended Round 3. KimJongIl's vote presented me with some consideration – do I count the wishes of the dead? At the end, I thought I'd better – as good an idea as it may be to some, I didn't want to be responsible for nukes raining down on Darwin. Anyway, it would have made no difference, except make a tight round even tighter.

The incredibly close result was:
RobH: 12
Paul: 12
Daveypodmore: 10

The entries from RobH and Paul move onto the Grand Final.

As much as I'd prepped myself (well, slept on it) for a three-way tie-break vote to send one of them into the final (and I had decided which one I would have done so – but I'm not telling which), I'm sorry to say we have to say that our, in his own words, “Perennial Bridsmaid”, Daveypodmore has been eliminated. I really am disappointed to see his drop out. It was such a good one and I did thing it screamed “New York”. Oh well, Davey, it's a Bronze Medal (what's your best finish so far?). Best of luck next time – I hope you do enter the next comp, it wouldn't be the same without one of your entries. And you've gotta crack it for Gold eventually!

And now, we’re set up for the nailbiter of all nailbiters for our climax. Where are those preferences going to go now? Will RobH deny Paul a fifth title, or will Paul do the dirty on the True Brit in the UK's Olympic year? All will be revealed tomorrow at our star-studded finale from Manhattan!
Anyway, back to business. The Final Round of the GamesBids New York City 2024 Olympic Summer Games Host Logo Contest is now open.

Here's the final round rules:
  • Vote in the poll for your favourite logo.
  • You have one vote.
  • Your vote is public and can be seen by all.
  • Entrants MAY vote for their own logo.
  • Votes are valid if cast by members of GamesBids as of January 1, 2012.
  • Votes will NOT be counted from members with no posting history.
  • I will rule on the validity of any other suspicious or disputed votes.
  • I will not vote in this unless a tie-breaker vote is needed in a tied final tally.
  • This vote will be open for (approximately) 24 hours - it will close no later than 9am, Tuesday January 17, Sydney time.
  • The bid with the highest number of votes, and an overall majority, will be declared the winner. is eliminated in each round.

Try to be fair and sportsmanlike, this is meant to be fun. Our two final entrants deserve our respect. No disputes are to be aired in this thread - If any contenders have any complaints or disputes, PM me.

Good luck and may the vote be close!

Can I just say a huge thank you to the one and only Daveypodmore who, had he voted for his own logo rather than mine would have been in a tie-breaker in the last round rather than receiving a well-deserved Bronze medal.

So erm, yeah, thanks man! B)

I will add this bronze to the silver from the Durban competition last year ( I seem to be heading in the wrong direction LOL)

I'd just like to thank my mum & Dad. My personal trainer, god, Sir Rols, a dead Korean leader, my hairdresser, my partner. All of you made this possible, this is for you all.

Seriuosly though, Good luck to Rob & Paul, its been a really competetive race, the best competition ever and Im proud to come 3rd. I can't wait for the next one : )

I've got to say that both desing are amazing. But there is only one winner... (it sound like Samaranch announcind Sydney's win :P) my recomendation is, Paul you should use the rings in their original color and it would look better.

But my vote goes to Rob!

Congratulations to Davey and Rob, I think you guys helped me get this far by both being here! Davey one of my favorite thing of this entire comp was your dove.

THANK YOU if you voted for me or considered it. I hope I produced something that you found interesting, a little exciting or even moving. I am very moved when I look at athletes in competition and especially the Paralympic athletes, that's why I made Paralympic companion logos in both the last comps (and videos).
I still feel like the underdog here and can't believe I've made it this far among the TITANS of GB. I hope my work speaks for itself (or maybe sometimes it's screaming for itself :D), but the truth is I am passionate about athletes, the Olympics and about everywhere I've ever been. When I've submitted a logo for a city I don't know I learn sooooooo much and feel like I'm going there. NYC was different because I know New York well. One of the pleasures of this comp was looking at all those pics of NY, and it was really cool that everyone seems so excited about NYC.

THANKS everyone who has participated, and why are there not like 100 votes in these comps???????

Cheers all around and good luck Rob!

I like to think of it more as it being MY vote that got you here, rather than Davey. You're welcome B)

Sorry to see you go out, you've been a class act the whole comp, and not even wallowing in defeat. Bid committees could use a guy like you for some humility.
