Heck a ceremony program alone would cost more than 10 million, unless of course they want to rehash the 2002 ceremony.

Any Salt Lake proposal will be greater than 2002. Rice-Eccles Stadium for example would see a proper upgrade to individual all seater and possible additional seating to break attendance records. I'd expect a more compact bid that might eliminate some venues used in 2002 and perhaps a replacement for the Jon M. Huntsman Center, which would definitely make it at least half a billion.

Referring to the $10m costs, is not the cost to operate the games (OCOG budget) but the cost of the bidding process !

Let's be confident for them to come to realistic figures in the coming months, they appointed last week one the best olympic finance advisor, with former SLC2002 CFO Brett Hopkins !

Oh, well in that case, even a bid figure will be well over 30 million, even if most of the work is done. I'm sure much of it will head towards some sort of IOC bribe. :P

^Precisely, LD. N that was my whole point before. Y be so disingenuous with the low-ball figure, unless they R going to be complete amateurs about it. R they trying not to scare anyone else right off the top.

N SWO, I merely quoted the title of the article that said a bid COULD cost more than $10M.

N if they have "one of the 'best' Olympic financial advisors out there", then "probably would" cost "more than" is a complete underestimate N they should get a refund. Cuz a bid DEFINITELY would cost more than $10 million. A lot more!

From what we learned through this article, the advisor only arrived on board last week... and their task is to go into details for a meeting in may !
So don't know who communicate those figures, but let see in 2 months. And do not trust also the way the journalist is transcribing this in his article... as he obviously mixed Capital investments & Operations costs....
Let's see in may a truly presentation of the figures !

The bribery scandal makes SLC even more unpalatable than the 2002 hosting. This is not going anywhere.....

"...unforgettable, dream Games..."
