I have checked and accept all votes in Round 1. The results were:

RobH: 10
Daveypodmore: 7
Soaring: 3
Paul: 8
Danny: 5

We sadly say goodbye to Soaring's submission (again I'm surprised). Thanks for entering and being such a great sport Soaring – sure hope you'll be in the next logo comp we have, you sure are always one of the strong contenders and I expect you will win one soon.

Anyway, back to business. Round Two of the GamesBids New York City 2024 Olympic Summer Games Host Logo Contest is now open. Congratulations to our short list finalists who have made it this far!
Here's the rules again:
  • Vote in the poll for your favourite logo.
  • You have one vote.
  • Your vote is public and can be seen by all.
  • Entrants MAY vote for their own logo.
  • Votes are valid if cast be members of GamesBids as of January 1, 2012.
  • I will rule on the validity of any suspicious or disputed votes.
  • I will not vote in this, or any subsequent rounds, unless a tie-breaker vote is needed in a tied elimination round or the final round.
  • This vote will be open for (approximately) 24 hours - it will close after 9:30am, Saturday January 14, Sydney time.
  • The bid with the lowest number of votes is eliminated in each round.
  • In the event of a tie for final place, the tied entries will face each other off in an elimination tie-break vote.
  • Voting will be conducted in rounds until one entry has an absolute majority and is declared the winner.

Try to be fair and sportsmanlike, this is meant to be fun. The entrants all deserve our respect. No disputes are to be aired in this thread - If any contenders have any complaints or disputes, PM me.

Good luck and may the best logo win!

Honestly I'm surprised Danny's logo's doing so well, I thought it was a really poor effort from him. My favourites are Davey and Rob.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback, Corniermax. Posted Image

I'm happy I got one more step with my logo. My impression is: the more you see, more you like Posted Image

Pity about Soaring's, my favorite apart my entry... But, the comp goes on.

GBForums have been boring lately... Miss the good discussions and points. The nice follow-ups on buildings and so on...
Now we have only chat with trolls or weeks without the old good boys posting...
So I'm giving a break, but I'll be back soon. Meanwhile I'll be around in SkyScrapercity, where no trolling and city vs. city is allowed.

Okay, I've got some concerns about some of the votes cast in this round. I wanna throw this open to get people's thoughts.

Now, I'm NOT casting aspersions on Danny, but three voters (rajk, beeton and 1234) for him this morning all joined up on October 27 last year and so far have never posted before on GB (well, 1234 has posted ONCE in a Pan-Am thread).

I'm loathe to accept them - never heard of them before. And their votes ARE affecting the result. Do all agree to discount them? Anyone want to vouch for them? Do they want to present their case/credentials?

scandalous.

anyway, i'm alternating votes between rob and davey. both deserve a win, and i can't decide the better logo. if it comes down to a showdown... that'll be a tough one.

but i fear the paul fan club will have something to say about that.

I've refrained from attacking anyone's logo. (I did mention some downsides to Rob's but only after saying that it used to be my first choice and that I admired the original concept).

Truthfully, I'm a bit surprised Danny's logo is still in the competition. The fact that it's leading by a wide margin is .... Beyond me.

I'd rank the remaining contenders as follows:

Paul
Rob
Davey
Danny

"...unforgettable, dream Games..."
