Round One of the GamesBids New York City 2024 Olympic Summer Games Host Logo Contest. Congratulations to our short list finalists – I think we have a particularly high-quality final.

Rules are simple and roughly approximates IOC voting procedures.

  • Vote in the poll for your favourite logo.
  • You have one vote.
  • Your vote is public and can be seen by all.
  • Entrants MAY vote for their own logo.
  • Votes are valid if cast be members of GamesBids as of January 1, 2012.
  • I will rule on the validity of any suspicious or disputed votes.
  • I will not vote in this, or any subsequent rounds, unless a tie-breaker vote is needed in a tied elimination round or the final round.
  • This vote will be open for (approximately) 24 hours - it will close no later than 9:30am, Friday January 13, Sydney time.
  • The bid with the lowest number of votes is eliminated in each round.
  • In the event of a tie for final place, the tied entries will face each other off in an elimination tie-break vote.
  • Voting will be conducted in rounds until one entry has an absolute majority and is declared the winner.

I apologise if the graphics above are not the best quality - using bloody MS Paint at work, and not only are my skills not as good as Bezzi's, my office PC is ancient and slow! I'll try to remedy that in coming rounds (I just wasn't sure this morning who was likely to make the final).

Let's all try to be fair and sportsmanlike, this is meant to be fun. The entrants all deserve our respect. No disputes are to be aired in this thread - If any contenders have any complaints or disputes, PM me.

Good luck and may the best logo win!

GBForums have been boring lately... Miss the good discussions and points. The nice follow-ups on buildings and so on...
Now we have only chat with trolls or weeks without the old good boys posting...
So I'm giving a break, but I'll be back soon. Meanwhile I'll be around in SkyScrapercity, where no trolling and city vs. city is allowed.

Thought id give my 2 cents on each design :) I will say positives and negatives, please dont feel hurt, you guys did GREAT jobs, way better then what i did.
Rob H great design, very modern and i really like the fluro blue, the backwardness (if its a word) kind of annoys and confuses me and it could do with some more colour but all in all a great design!
DaveyPodMore love the use of lines to show the animation, i also really like the active characters, but i have to ask, why did you leave out poor greenie? you got red, blue, black and yellow but no green. minor thing anyway great design, yours was one of my favourites :D
Soaring i love the statue of liverty hat and torch, the design is really cool and i love the colouring, its a bit plain but all in all i really do like it :D
Paul loved yours, i dont know if that ball thing is in new york but its really cool, and the character is like 3d haha, couldve done with a bit more colour but i still loved yours and voted for it
DannyElBrazil Great design, love that you used lots of colours and LOVE the slogan, however the lines couldve had a more obvious link towards buildings, but i still love it!
Thansk guys :D

Paul's design is based on the Atlas sculpture in Rockefeller Center across from St. Patrick's Cathedral. I like the fact that he chose a slightly less obvious New York icon with a global feel. For me, the single color is very strong and the design has some great kinetic energy. By comparison, many of the others feel a bit static. Heres a link to a photo:

I also like the way the Atlas figure resembles a star in a subtle nod to the US flag and previous American Olympic logos....

"...unforgettable, dream Games..."
