I expect most people protesting didn't even know Dow was an Olympic sponsor before the funding of the wrap was announced. You can bet if the Coalition Government hadn't of scrapped the public financing of the wrap artwork, none of this would be happening now.

Which just makes me all the more angry. We all knew it was a symbolic cost saving measure designed to make David Cameron look tough on budgets. What a disaster that turned out to be.

India is planning to intensify its protest against Dow Chemicals' sponsorship of 2012 London Olympics as it mulls boycotting the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games, according to media reports on Wednesday.

India will take the decision on boycott after it gets a clear reply from the organizers about Dow issue.

According to reports, Indian officials will not only skip the opening and closing ceremonies, but will also boycott all official ceremonies related to the event.

However, IOA has confirmed that the athletes will not join the boycott.

so in other words, no one watching the opening or closing ceremony on TV would notice any 'protest' since the Indian team will still march in on cue and no one will really notice a dozen empty seats in the stadium... wow, the Indians Oly. Comm. cant even get a 'protest' right.... laughable indeed.

Nope...I don't think they will be missed that much. They're hardly the greatest sporting nation are they. Incidentally, they got a similar medla tally to that of Iran in Beijing.

I see both sides to this one. As a sporting presence, India really doesn't bring much to the table and in that sense the Games wouldn't suffer much at all if they boycott (unlike the game-changing American and Soviet/Eastern-bloc boycotts).

However, the Games are supposed to be truly global and the absence of the second most populous nation on earth looks bad. Plus, considering the historical relationship between India and Britain, I think their presence is important.

"...unforgettable, dream Games..."

If I'm LOGOC, sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me
