Hello friends and neighbors,

Here it is...the 3rd Big event for November 11, 2011!

The website, www.secretolympiceremony.com goes live!!

Please check it out, try your hand at the Trivia question--bookmark the page--and leave an answer/a nice comment or two.

Right now, remaining copies of the 2010 edition are 10%. And you can still get your personally autographed copies directly from me. The 2012 edition, equally as good but with more newly discovered stories and insights, should be available by February 2012.

About time the book got an official site!

A bit of a problem, I find the archiving of the trivia Q&As inadequete, I have to try to question to the test trivia question, Jeopardy style! For a similar tactic to also appy to the sample pages, I do nothave a beef with that. Trivia, Blog, Q&A needs to be separated in their own catergories before there is too much clutter. Generally, the website is not as professional looking as it could be, but good for a first time.

Thumbs up, here's to more exposure!

GBForums have been boring lately... Miss the good discussions and points. The nice follow-ups on buildings and so on...
Now we have only chat with trolls or weeks without the old good boys posting...
So I'm giving a break, but I'll be back soon. Meanwhile I'll be around in SkyScrapercity, where no trolling and city vs. city is allowed.

I agree with Danny - lose the home page music. No added value, lots of added risk that someone will quickly close the page if they are in a quiet environment - or if its not their taste in music.

Also - moved the topic to avoid the commercial post rule.

I have a limited advertising budget. This is the best deal I could get for the $$. I am aware it could LOOK more professional but that would also cost a lot more $$. I am so proud that I was able to accomplish this by myself just using what I thought would be the best-looking template for it. I understand click-and-drag...not HTML. Thus....

Re audio: generally, I have gotten positive feedback on it. Some have told me that they like the choice of music. So far, have only gotten negs on the music here (and one other). And I specifically chose a guitar rendition...and with that in mind when I also built the slide show--to tell a complete, sales story. In the end, I've got to go with my gut--if I were perusing the site, I would probably be more seduced into buying the book with the music. So personal taste but nonetheless, I value and appreciate the feedback.

I also think it's a bit old-fashioned to have music automatically playing on a website. I especially agree with GBModerator that that way, the website is not really safe for work.

Furthermore, it's confusing that there are two separate play/pause buttons for the pictures and for the music. I thought at first that the play/pause/stop buttons below the pictures are for the pictures and therefore thought that it's a technical glitch that the pictures keep rolling even when one hits the stop button.

So I would recommend you: Scrap the music. The guitar arrangement of the Ode To Joy is nice, but I think it might alienate especially users who open your site at work.

Apart from that, I also hope that your site will become a ceremonial knowledge database. I remember the website which listed the ceremonial schedules or ceremonial segments of past Olympic ceremonies. It's offline meanwhile, although one can still access it in the Internet Archive: The Glitz & Glamour of the Games (Internet Archive) Your website could become the same or even more than that. That would be fantastic!

An online mate of mine (and a sometime poster on here) made that site, actually, I did the review of Auckland 1990 on there, was a great source for material, especially music.
Nice work Myles, definitely one to build on.

Not to sound like a broken record, but yes, scrap the music.

And also, I didn't know you attended the Beijing Opening Ceremonies personally?

Really, he posts here? Which member is it? And do you know why he took the website offline?
