So its September and the studios are starting to unleash their big guns going for Oscar gold.

I have already seen seven films with potential: The Tree of Life (which will probably get shut out), Bridesmaids (don't laugh, they are gonna sweep the globes), The Help (gonna get nominated, ain't gonna win) and Warrior (in the conversation but ultimately it will finish outside of every major award category). And I have also already seen The Ides of March, The Descendants and Drive. The middle one is my early pick for complete and utter Oscar domination.

I am most looking forward:

"Contagion" is the one getting a lot of the early Oscar hype down here.

When's Tintin due out?

Oh and:

Contagion is a good movie, but in the end it won't compete.

And the most talked about and best regard film of the year so far is the French film The Artist (it has an Australian connection as the star is modelled after Errol Flynn)

I think the field is just too deep this year, there is The Artist, The Descendants, War Horse, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, J. Edgar, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, The Help (unfortunately), Moneyball, Midnight in Paris, The Ides of March, The Tree of Life, We Bought a Zoo, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Iron Lady, My Week With Marilyn, A Dangerous Method, Carnage, We Need to Talk about Kevin, Drive and a few more.

Tintin is at Christmas, but I doubt it will do much.

I'm sorta highly anticipating it - and dreading it - at the same time.

It just looks creepy. I very much doubt it will be a major hit in NA, Tintin is not apart of our culture.

I've seen the shorts too ... but it turned me of it. Why do you need to make the Three Musketeers an fx movie when the original tale is such a good one that doesn't need flying airships to spice it up?
