Unless, Buenos Aires be the sole bid, we already have a loser for thid bid race.

Are the argentines joking around?

Ok, I'm already raedy to read I'm biased against Argentina because of football rivalry and bla bla bla...

So, my point is: get the last Copa America Argentina 2011 related news and see how much I'm not biased, or get some opinion for the other South Americans here ;)

Still, good lucky to our "hermanos". Lucky will be word them, no doubts.

Dear Premium member who voted down on my post (and opinion) about Buenos Aires bid.

I suggest you read it again (specially when I wish them good lucky - they will need), and also read all the news related to the Copa America Argentina just hosted.

You can disagree on me (which is fair), but you can see my points are valid, indeed deawebo and other people here can tell you more about the event held in "peronist" Argentina last month.

It's only a matter of bad government Argentina is facing for the last, let me say, 70+ years.

Greetings. ;)

I doubt the Netherlands, as they stated their attentions for 2028, and France would they want to distrupt a potential Paris 2024 bid?

Well this article from GB says:

IOC to begin accepting 2018 Youth Olympic Games bids in September

Tuesday, August 23, 2011 2:36pm EDT GB Editor

Font size:

Bids for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games will have until March 1, 2012 to submit applications according to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

But IOC Executive Director Gilbert Felli told reporters in July that there are "several" cities anxious to apply for the 2018 event. Monterrey in Mexico, the Netherlands and Nigeria have already shown interest.

Yes, Toulouse may not be supported, but they have expressed interest since 2009. Per Wikipedia, Kazan, Russia is also interested, although I don't think it has quite the cachet of the other candidates. (Neither does Toulouse, frankly, except that I had a friend from there so I am sympathetic.)

Clearly, BA has the most appeal as an Alpha (or close to Alpha) city. But I think I would wait if I were them. They deserve the senior Olympics, some day at least.

They probably will be the second city in South America to host the games, when they solve their political and economic problems.

Indeed, with all of this solved, Buenos Aires will be a stronger bid, like they were in 2004 race, reachin the shortlist. :)

It`s seems some Premium does not want Buenos Aires to host... Give me a negative review for this post when I say Buenos Aires will be the next South American host as soon as they change their main political parties in power.

And also voted negative when I said Buenos will be a strong bid like 2004 race!!!

Please, read before cast negative vote. Use it well. ;)

If Argentine people keep the Justicialista Party in the power, can be. The same is valid for Venezuela and Bolivia (to avoid these negative rep points of somebody thinking I'm putting soccer rivalry over impartial opinions).

Extreme leftish presidents like Mr. Chávez from Venezuela, Mr. Morales from Bolivia and Mrs. Cristina Kirchner from Argentina are destroying the economy and society of their countries.

But I see some other emerging South Americans that will be stronger in a near future and can place victorious bid: Specially Chile followed by Colombia and Peru (both countries have been doing really great).

It'd be unfair to have a second games in Brazil before any other South American country. Still, possible.

  • 3 months later...

My sole question is:

Where Argentina will find money to financing the games?

Simple like that.

Argentines are joking, don't take this bid serious.

The "youth" games can't be so hard for Argentina or Chile to organize. Maybe even Peru, Colômbia and Venezuela can. The PANAM seems to be more expensive to south american cities.
