ASTANA, Kazakhstan —
The Olympic Council of Asia decided Monday that the Japanese cities of Sapporo and Obihiro will co-host the 2017 Asian Winter Games. The OCA General Assembly approved them as there were no other candidates.
Japanese Olympic Committee President Tsunekazu Takeda signed a hosting contract for the eighth Asian Winter Games in place of the cities’ representatives. Sapporo hosted the first two editions of the Asian Winter Games in 1986 and 1990. Aomori staged the fifth edition in 2003.

The 8th AWG will be held in Sapporo, host of the 1972 Winter Olympics and 1986 and 1990 Asian Winter Games, and in Obihiro, a specialist venue for speed skating.
Although the dates have not been finalised, it is planned to have seven competition days somewhere between January 21 and February 19, using five venues. There will be 11 disciplines in five sports: biathlon, curling, ice hockey, skating and skiing.
The organising committee will be established by March 2013.

Looks like Ski orenteering and Bandy have been dropped which were added by Kazakhstan at the last games. Wheres the Luge, Skeleton and Bobsleigh? India would win gold for all we know in Men's luge
Ski orenteering and Bandy it was included in order to obtain lot of medals only for Kazakhstan. Sliding center in Asia is the only one in Nagano. India held in 1990 Winter Asian Games, but had to return.
