Has any of the 2010 Parade of Nations music shown up on iTunes at all?

There was more to it than the "Parade of Athletes" and "Canadian Athletes" tracks that ended up on the official release CD.

Ski, I am just curious...what is your obsession with the march in music? I mean it's all jsut background stuff...why so hooked on it?

I can't speak for SkiFreak, but I've always enjoyed that music that is played during the parade (except for Beijing, ugggh). There are many people who actually enjoy the procession, and to them it, along with the lighting of the cauldron, are the opening ceremony. I know Baron is very much into the theatrical elements of the ceremony, I have no problems with that. We all have our own interests, and the Olympic Games not only brings athletes from different parts of the world together, but is also unites fans with different interests and perspectives.

For Vancouver I think it was all original music (Parade of Nations/Athletes) composed by David Pierce (I could be wrong, anyone want to clarify?). There were a few pieces that I liked. I was just wondering if anyone has found any other Vancouver 2010 music on iTunes besides David Pierce's medal ceremony music. According to this page on the Calgary Stampede website:
http://cs.calgarysta...g/david-pierce/

Quote

In 2010, Pierce was the Music Director and Composer for the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games. His scores accompanied the Opening, Medals and Closing Ceremonies which were viewed by a television audience of 3.5 billion people. The Olympic project entailed scoring over five hours of original music, producing sessions, developing creative concept with the ceremonies team and conducting over 500 hours of orchestra, choir and big band recordings.
More of that 5 hours of Vancouver 2010 music must be out there somewhere.

As for my thread about Atlanta's Parade of Nations, just have interest in putting a tracklist together. It seems all this music was just gathered from other albums and/or soundtracks. Some of the tracks I was able to identify right away, some I know the tunes but forget the titles, others are hard to hear because of the commentary.

Actually, that's NOT the case...because, and I think I alluded to it, in the other thread...Ernstoff, that's the Research Consultant who put together the Parade music for both LA and Atlanta, specifically told me that come 1995 when he was lining up the 1996 music, he was informed that they could NOT use any music previously recorded in North and South America. So, in other words, whatever clearance rights ACOG/Centennial Properties could get hold of, had to be given its own recording in the studio--just for use at the 1996 Ceremonies.

Also, on the subject of the Canadian Olympics, do you know that for Montreal, they used the compositions of a Quebec born composer, Andre Mathieu? I was just looking at the album yesterday.

I've heard it. It's actually not a bad album. Pretty good music. I think there's at least three albums for Montreal - ones that I've seen cover art for online. There's the grey-colored one. Then there is an album featuring finalists for a music competition - I think this competition was for music to be used in the closing ceremony (this album has a red cover). And the other album I've seen just features the Canadian anthem.

This is my first post on here, but a constant lurker. DAE had posted on YouTube 2 vids that had the Parade of Athletes mixed with the in between stuff and what was used for the medals ceremony. Wish they had included at least the Medals Ceremony music on iTunes and the CDs.

I actually loved Torino's choice of music, but then I haven't accepted the fact that disco is dead yet.
