I plan on attending and I'm looking forward to it as it will be first Olympics that I have attended in person. One of the likely members of the 2012 U.S. Track and Field team, Marquise Goodwin, won the NCAA Long Jump as a freshman at the University of Texas. I was his football and track coach when he was in junior high. Barring a major injury, I'll be looking forward to seeing one of the kids I coached on an Olympic team.

! want to volunteer as a games maker - but am torn - what if i am stationed in a car park in the back end of beyond?? am torn!

I've noticed two of you using that term. Is that the official label they're gonna give to the volunteers in 2012?

I was too selfish to volunter for Sydney - basically I was just after as many tickets as I could to see as many events as I could. In the end, my workplace froze all staff leave during the Games period anyway. So about the only games I had to work during since about Moscow were those in my own home town. Still, I made sure I did go to as many events as I could, and I actually brought in a TV from home to sit on my desk for the times I was at the office.

Don't think I'll bother to be honest. Not really my thing. ^_^

That's great! Maybe we can do a "house swap" if you wanna get away from it all Down Under during the duration.

Would like to go, but my savings are already tied up with other stuff...

Maybe I can head down to Rio for 2016. We shall see.

I've been saving to go as well. My major concern at this point is accomodoation. I've always heard that it would take care of itself if you waited until the last minute, but I just don't plan things that way. I'm also hoping to get lucky in the ticket lottery, but people on here have always said that they're fairly easy to find up until Games time.
