well, Beijing seems to be the favorit for 2015
but 2017 would still a good time to host for London
but does a Fifa World Cup really need the Olympic-Stadium in 2018?
England has more then enough great stadiums, even London has more then enough Football-Stadiums.
So i guess the could down-size the Olmypic-Stadium after a possible IAAF WC

but London could host a world cup by themselves - with access to wembley, twickenham, the olympic stadium, the emirates stadium, Stamford bridge, White hart lane, upton park among others

Dreams of world athletics in Stratford snuffed out
London has been forced to abandon a bid to host the 2015 World Athletics Championships because of uncertainty over the future of the 2012 Olympic Stadium.
British athletics officials were due to present a bid to the IAAF, the world governing body of athletics, later this month where they faced a rival bid from Beijing.
But UK Athletics have now scrapped the 2015 campaign and will make another bid for the 2017 championships because the final decision about who is going to run the Olympic Stadium in east London after the Games will not be made before the end of the month.
The Olympic Park Legacy Company is currently talking to companies who have expressed an interest in taking over the stadium after the Games, including football clubs West Ham and Tottenham and entertainment and concert producers AEG and Live Nation.
Tottenham and AEG, who are bidding together, are less keen on keeping an athletics track in the main stadium than West Ham and Live Nation.
So, no decision can be made about the championships until it is decided who is going to run the arena after 2012.
These negotitations are not expected to be concluded until Christmas at the earliest. So the future of the stadium would not have been clear when London was due to present its 2015 bid at the IAAF's council meeting in Monaco on November 19 and 20.
The decision is a blow to London 2012 chairman Seb Coe because he is keen to get an athletics legacy for the stadium.
But a decision on the 2017 championships will be made next year so London will know before the Games if the world event is coming to the capital.

I didn't know until yesterday that London abandoned its 2015 bid. That's really a shame -- and I fear that this is a bad omen for the running track in the Olympic Stadium. I'm not too certain that London will be able to bid for the 2017 IAAF World Championships... It's because London would now have to maintain (and find some use for) the running track for five instead of three years after the Games.
On the other hand, now that the third Asian city within only eight years (after Osaka 2007 and Daegu 2011) will host the IAAF World Championships, Europe stands a good chance of getting the 2017 edition. And what would be better than letting the most recent European Summer Olympic host city host that edition?
Or it will turn out completely differently and Durban, another African or even an American city will bid for 2017 and thus Europe will be pretty much out of the race again...

Looking forward to the Games of the XXX Olympiad! Good luck, London!

London's bid to host the world athletics championships is set to be resurrected after West Ham were confirmed as new owners of the Olympic stadium.
A campaign to host the 2017 international track and field competition in the Stratford venue could be mounted months after athletics chiefs pulled the bid for the 2015 event due to uncertainty over the future of the Olympic stadium.
A source said: "If central government and the Mayor's office are behind this a winning bid would demonstrate the potential of the Olympic stadium."
Applications for the 2017 event open next month with a decision to be made by the world athletics federation, the IAAF, in November.
The last bid was going head-to-head against Beijing for the 2015 championships and London is expected to face competition in the 2017 bid from Qatar and possibly Rome and Istanbul.
UK Athletics pulled out of the 2015 race because of fears it would affect Tottenham's bid to move to the Olympic stadium as Spurs proposed tearing up the track.
There were concerns at the Olympic Park Legacy Company, handling the stadium sale, that they would face legal action from Spurs unless the athletics championships campaign was halted.
UK Athletics partnered West Ham's stadium bid as the club was committed to keeping a running track. It would aim to stage the 2014 Aviva Grand Prix, currently staged at Crystal Palace, as the first major athletics event to be held at the Olympic stadium.
UK Athletics are the clear winner following the West Ham decision. Over recent months they have worked with Newham and West Ham to ensure that all the criteria of the Olympic Park Legacy Company are met.

If the Durban city and bid officials were smart they would bid for the 2017 event
