It's been said many times but the last Summer Games would have been 48 years ago. Winter Games are going to be hosted more so by the likes of Canada and United States due to the lack of viable Winter hosts. Anyways, it really doesn't matter what we both say cause its been reported by Canadian media that Toronto will more than likely bid for 2024 in 2015 when the race opens up on the heels of the Pan Ams Games hosting.

Which makes Toronto a viable candidate if it runs successfully. Rio won partially because of 2007, and even if the IOC comes to an agreement with the USOC there still might be some resentment.

Of course I wouldn't be surprised to see Toronto bid, but I think it's very unclear how the bid will fare. We don't know what the quality of the Pan-Ams will be, how Paris and/or Durban will factor in, what the US aims will be, and -- perhaps most importantly -- what the USOC/IOC relationship will look like. 2024 could go any number of ways for Toronto....

I think the city will embrace the games, with the same fan enthusiasm as the Vancouver games.

The city may embrace the Games. The question is whether the IOC will embrace the city. I'm not convinced they will.

What do you mean by not embracing? The excellent venue plan, experience, third time bidding should help the cities case. And in a plethora of other reasons Toronto should be able to impress the IOC, but winning off course will be hard to do.

Where did you hear that from? I know Ontario Place is officially permanently shut down so they can revitalize that whole park. I remember hearing that they would be incorporating a Casino within Ontario Place.

It was a suggestion I was reading google it maybe it comes up. I don't think it would be feasible as they want the park to be built by 2017. And there will be no casino built in Toronto.

Toronto's olympic bid is dead. With the Pan Am games costs on the up there is no way that Toronto and Ontario are going to put a billion dollars into a two week event. Just ask the taxpapers!

There has been no confirmation of costs going up. However with any event costs will go up most likely. The event will not be dead. 90% of people polled about the 2020 games said they would want to go for it.
