I caught a few hockey games and skiing events on Fox College Sports, in the US, from Innsbruck sometime last year.
I'm typing this with a thirty-five pound dog in my lap...

The USA should seriously consider this as well. LA would be a suitable place for a Summer Universiade, with many of the events at the Home Depot Center. :wwww:
The USA has only hosted one Summer and one Winter Universiade each. With Lake Placid 1972 (winter) and Buffalo 1993 (summer) so far, the country has potential to host more of these Games.
Oh, one more thing to mention here: San Antonio is thinking about bidding for the 2009 Summer Universiade, after losing to Rio for the 2007 Pan American Games.

The 22nd Universiade in Daegu featured 13 sports, 10 of which are compulsory (athletics, basketball, diving, fencing, football, gymnastics, swimming, tennis, volleyball and waterpolo) and 3 optional (archery, judo, and taekwondo).

Exactly the same size as the Commonwealth Games, featuring 15 sports.
Not the same as the CG.

In CG, swimming, diving, syncronised swimming, waterpolo are all counted as one sport - Aquatics

For 2009 I have listed the following "potential" bids:

- Belfast, United Kingdom
- Edmonton or Montreal, Canada (letter of intent submitted early March 04 - decision on Canadian candidate on May 17th)
- Leipzig, Germany
- The Netherlands

and Harbin, PR China for Winter

Any other info ?

2 more weeks. Just 2 more weeks before all bids must be made and submitted to the FISU.

Is Erzurum 2009 a preparation for an Olympic bid?
I doubt it.

As for Belgrade, is it the city's first time for a Universiade bid? I do remember vaguely that the Serbian city tried an Olympic bid once.
Belgrade bid for the 1996 games, along with Melbourne, Manchester, Athens and of course Atlanta.

I really don't understand how my previous statement indicates to you that I'm full of myself or that I demand for a praise....

Erzurum, Turkey, has been inspected by a group of FISU Evaluation Commission members over the weekend. It is one of two candidate cities/areas for the 2009 Winter Universiade:
