It seems that the IOC treats members, who committed a crime, better than athletes, who used drugs...

money has no smell

well, Kun Hee Lee's "crimes" are non-payment of taxes...and those are between him end his gov't. NOthing to do with the IOC; and he was given an amnesty by his own president, so technically, he did nothing vs. the IOC...thus the reprimand. In this regard, I accept that the IOC knows its place.

I know, baron, I know *sigh* - but I am frustrated - I think the IOC measures with two different measures - what would happen if a gov't pardon an athlete, who used drugs in a national competition? Is that a thing between him/her and his/her gov't, too?

Or what is with murder? Or economical spionage?

Furthermore I wonder why the IOC withdrew him his IOC-membership in the first place, if it doesn't esteem defraudment of tax as general crime?

Maybe, for a balance, PC 2018 bid would be over~
No matter how the IOC stress that it will not affect the PC bid.

Mr. Lee committed tax evasion in Korea but his company made sponsorship contract for IOC.

In Korea , theres no strong opposition for his special pardon.

IMO a person who is convicted of any crime (in this tax evasion, a conviction is still a conviction even if the person is pardoned) should not be allowed to be a member of the IOC. that's why people expressed concern when crown prince frederik became an IOC member because of the questionable characters and backgrounds of some IOC members. they shouldn't even be allowed to take part in any way be it the bid stage or any stage of the event. i'm also holding to the fact that games must be awarded to the best bid not to the bid with the newest venues and to a nation with a far better winter sports culture, that's germany.

just my 2 cents.

Great to see that the Olympic Spirit is alive and well in Germany! I can see no purpose for Munich supporters to be posting negative press on the PyeongChang gamesbid board except to detract from another bid city. Shame.

I mean, if we're going to go into the past, let's bring up Manfred Ewald while we're at it or the antics of Bayer Munich athletes... (both are put up facetiously to prove a point) or any manner of things that have NO impact on the bid or PyeongChang's ability (or inability) to host the games.

That doesn't mean I approve of the ROK's handling of the matter or of Lee's actions. But, seriously... beat it. Heaven forbid this forum turn into a flame war where supporters of other parties begin airing the other candidate's cities dirty laundry (that have nothing to do with the BID!) out in a vain attempt to impact things.
