Bad news (and good news for Poznan and Nanjing) for the youth olympic race :( I translated the article since its still not in english

Guadalajara declines to host Youth Olympics in 2014
Note
Ayuntamiento de Guadalajara

Due to different financial problems, the authorities have taken the decision not to stay in the race
GUADALAJARA, JALISCO .- The Mexican Olympic Committee, together with the governments of Jalisco and Guadalajara City, have decided to decline the request to host the Youth Olympic Games 2014, informed the State Governor Emilio Gonzalez Marquez , in his capacity as chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Pan American Games Guadalajara 2011.

The decision was made based on the time limitations for serious financial constraints and the urgency of completing and consolidating the actions related to the commitments made to the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO).

For these reasons, it was concluded that it is impossible to assume, simultaneously, the organization of two events of such significance and complexity, therefore, unanimously, it was decided not to continue striving for hosting the event.

They wouldn't be able to handle the kiddy Olympics because of the Pan Ams? Just further demonstrates that it'll be a long way off before Mexico would ever see another Olympic Games.

What a pity!

The final vote in Vancouver will have less selling points!

Only makes sense to me. Gdljr underestimated the YOG a tad, on top of underestimating the PanAms. That on top of the country's already exploding troubles. 2011 will definitely be underwhelming, but at least it will make Rio and it's 2016 plans shine brighter by PanAm host comparison!

I think this pretty much assures Poznan of hosting duties. They aren't going to go to Asia twice in a row.

well, I'm afraid that the we-said "convention" will not play its role this time, since it's not to time to play!

I don't think continental rotation is going to be too much of a factor with these newborn games. Nanjing is the city that aced they 2014 IOC yog's EC Report. And Rogge, I'm sure, wants his pet-project to go off very smoothly & surely the Chinese would deliver the goods.

The only way I could see Poznan winning at this juncture, is if their plan is viable enough & if most of the IOC members feel they should rotate, even with these junior games, especially to countries that have no real chances anytime soon of hosting the real thing.

Poznan? Korea (Inchon) will be busy hosting the Asians that year...so I don't see how the IOC can give the 2014 YOG to Poznan.

YOG 2014 will thus go to Nanjing (which had hosted the 2005 Chinese National Games).

But YOG....yawwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!! <_<
