I hope they sing Jerusalem in the opening ceremony. To me, that song and its imagery are exactly what England is about. The peaceful meadow greens and the smoky iron industrial mills. Wonderful contrasting elements yet those are what made this country.

The Iranians and friends will cry "Zionists!" if the song is included!! Surely, less controversial pieces could be used.

That would be nice. I would hope they play equally emotive songs to represent N.Ireland,Wales and Scotland too.

With Iran's request to come out as IS for Islamic Republic of Iran that means they will enter right before Israel. Interesting.

Jerusalem can very well just represent the whole of Britain

What, with the words Walk upon England's mountain green? "In England's green and pleasant land" and On England's pleasant pastures seen

Doesn't convey United Kingdom song to me, let alone to the watching world.

By the way: The month of April is over, and we haven't heard the additional details Danny Boyle promised to disclose in that month. Or have I missed something?

Boyle promised to reveal more information in April.

Or was Boyle's small revelation that there will be two massive dancing segments and another theme called "Forces of Nature" everything?

And actually we should get more information on the artists in April. But apart from Mark Rylance (which wasn't even an official revelation by Boyle, but by the Telegraph), we haven't been given any information.

More detailed information will be released about the artists in April

Co-artistic directors Jenny Sealey and Bradley Hemmings today outlined their vision for the London 2012 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony taking place at 8.30pm on the 29 August 2012. Called ‘Enlightenment’, they promise a spectacular celebration of the inspirational spirit of the Paralympic Games that challenges perceptions of human possibility.

Groundbreaking in its inclusivity and innovative staging, the Ceremony will showcase the excellence of deaf and disabled artists and will open with a fly past by ‘Aerobility’, a British charity that trains disabled people to become pilots. The Ceremony promises to be an electrifying celebration to mark the occasion when the Paralympic Games, which originated in the UK as the Stoke Mandeville Games in 1948, will come home.

50 specialist performers in the London 2012 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony are also taking part in an eight week circus skills training programme taking place at Circus Space in Hackney.

The programme, which starts this week and is funded by Arts Council England, will see performers with disability, including established artists and people new to the arts such as rehabilitating soldiers and non competing Paralympians, learn circus arts skills. These new skills will not only to help them with their specialist roles in the Ceremony where they will perform aerial work on a 35m high rig, but also build on these skills after the Games.

The London 2012 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony will include an Adult Volunteer Cast of over 3000, Children Volunteer Cast of over 100, and a Professional Cast of over 100.
