They obviously did not test the slogan for such coincidences before launching it.

It's not an official slogan of any kind, there's no motto or logo yet for the bid, it's just the title given by the creator of this thread.

It's an interesting idea, but I don't see why Spain don't just go it alone.
cause Spain didnt want the FIFA cup WC till Portugal asked us for it, because Spain is 100% for olympics, and now we try to get FIFA CUP too cause we made a rebulsive? rebulsivo ? in relations with portugal to be more near and not back to back like till now

You're saying the main partner in this bid isn't really fussed about the world cup?

I think it's his personal impression. Spain already said no to bid together with Portugal for the Euro 2004, and they won. The reaction of the president of the Spanish Footbal Federation, Ángel María Villar, to the recent evaluation report was that Madrid not getting the games helps the WC bid's prospects.

Wow, there hasn't been much activity in this thread. The truth is there hasn't been much to comment. The logo and the website haven´t been released yet, the joint bid comitee was legally constituted this month in Madrid... The most remarkable thing this last weeks, at least from this side of the border, is that 25 stadia from 20 cities have submitted their candidatures to the Spanish Football Federation.

The list of candidates by regions would be:

Andalusia (4)
Seville: La Cartuja (65,000), Sánchez Pizjuán (46,000; to be remodeled and expanded to 66,000), & Ruiz de Lopera (51,000)
Málaga: La Rosaleda (29,000)

Aragon (1)
Zaragoza: San José (43,000; up to 50,000 with additional grandstands; to be built)

Asturias (2)
Gijon: El Molinón (25,000; to be remodeled)
Oviedo: Carlos Tartiere (30,000)

Basque Country (2)
Bilbao: New San Mamés (58,000; to be built)
Donostia-San Sebastián: Anoeta (32,000; to be remodeled and expanded to 40,000)

Catalonia (4)
Barcelona: Camp Nou (98,000; to be remodeled), Olímpic de Montjüic (56,000) & Cornellŕ-El Prat (40,000; to be inaugurated this season)
Girona: Montilivi (10,000; to be completely remodeled)

Cantabria (1)
Santander: El Sardinero (22,000)

Castile and León (2)
Valladolid: José Zorrilla (26,000)
Salamanca: Helmántico (just 7,000) or a brand new project

Extremadura (1)
Badajoz: Nuevo Vivero (15,000; to be remodeled and expanded to 30 or 45 thousand spectators)

Galicia (2)
A Coruńa: Riazor (36,000; to be remodeled)
Vigo: Balaídos (32,000)

Community of Madrid (2)
Madrid: Santiago Bernabéu (80,000) & La Peineta (22,000; to be completely remodeled and expanded to 73,000)

Region of Murcia (1)
Murcia: Nueva Condomina (30,000)

Valencian Community (3)
Valencia: Nou Mestalla (75,000; in construction)
Alicante: José Rico Peréz (30,000; to be remodeled)
Elche: Martínez Valero (39,000)

A shortlist is expected on 17th August.

Portugal didn't let every single stadium try to be candidates....
So, Portugal decided to choose 5 stadium in order to join the rest of stadiums from Spain:

Norte de Portugal
Porto: Estádio do Dragăo (50.000; Euro'2004 stadium)
Braga: Estádio Municipal de Braga (30.000; Euro'2004 stadium)

Regiăo de Lisboa
Lisboa: Estádio Alvalade XXI (50.000; Euro'2004 stadium)
Lisboa: Estádio da Luz (65.000; Euro'2004 stadium)

Algarve
Faro/Loulé: Estádio do Algarve (30.000; Euro'2004 stadium)

Those who are not ready yet, will be by then!

My pick for the stadiums of the World Cup'2018 in Portugal and Spain:

The list will probably be of 8 or 10.

If 8:

1- Lisboa (Alvalade)
2- Lisboa (Luz)
3- Porto (Dragăo)

4- Madrid (Santiago Bernabeu)
5- Barcelona (Camp Nou)
6- Sevilla (La Cartuja)
7- Bilbao (New San Mames)
8- Valencia (New Mestalla)

If 10:

The same plus:
1- Algarve

2- El Prat - Cornella de Llobregat (Espanyol stadium)

No, they are going for 12 stadia, 3/4 in Portugal, 8/9 in Spain. At least that's what they say is the agreement in the website of the Spanish Football Federation. ;)

Apart from that, your choices make sense, they would definitely include those first six Spanish stadia you mention. However I think they would choose the new San José stadium they are building in Zaragoza before a second stadium in metropolitan Barcelona. San José will be bigger than Espanyol's (50,000 vs. 40,000), Zaragoza is ideally located midway from Madrid to Barcelona, midway from Bilbao to Valencia, and the render of the stadium looks great:

Spanish stadiums number 7 and 8 could be Riazor in A Coruńa and Nueva Condomina in Murcia to spread the wealth among the regions, unless... only one city can have two stadia, right? It would be a pity to leave Madrid's La Peineta behind, but two stadia in Madrid would probably mean just one in Lisbon and just three in Portugal.

By the way, next week the Spanish candidate stadia will make their final presentation before the federation. I said a shorlist was expected by August 17th, I guess I misread that.

If FIFA doesn't let this bid have 2 stadiums in more than 1 city, I bet that city will be Lisbon.
Estádio Alvalade XXI is a UEFA 5star stadium, and I don't think it would be good to let it out of the bid. Because its a 5star stadium, and because its quite new.

I didn't know about the 12.
If so, I would put the 10 I said before, and then would try to put stadiums that can do a bridge between the two countries. Galiza, Extremadura, Andalucia and Castilla y Leon would be the regions... But mainly Galiza and Extremadura!
