"Two Countries, One Cup" doesn't quite have the ring of "One World, One Dream," does it?

Well, the world doesn't consist of one country, DOES IT?

I was just reading through the FIFA Inspection Report the inspection committee wrote about the bidding countries for WC 2010. In the Executive Summary early on was a statement that the options available in Africa were of a sufficient standard to not require FIFA to break their rules and have to consider a joint bid. That sort of statement in an official FIFA document doesn't hold much hope for joint bidders for either 2018 or 2022.

When I came up with that motto I was thinking of two girls one cup, look it up.

That's exactly what we keep telling people who insist on PUSHING those joint bids. It's such a simple concept: the host organization has said the above PLUS have stated their BAD experience with an actual previous attempt (2002). YET, some parties (you know who you are... ;) ) cry wolf, and make all sorts of excuses like "why are little countries being ignored, etc., etc." -- SO WHY SHOULD THEY REALLY CONSIDER JOINT BIDS.

I mean if the teacher says the homework must only be submitted in ONE binder, who are the students to question her stated requirements?

Then why just not BAN joint bids altogether? Saves us time and money.

well, that might be a little too extreme. I think they want to leave it to the countries to exercise their discretion.

The most remarkable thing this last weeks, at least from this side of the border, is that 25 stadia from 20 cities have submitted their candidatures to the Spanish Football Federation.

The list of candidates by regions would be:

[...]
Castile and León (2)
Valladolid: José Zorrilla (26,000)
Salamanca: Helmántico (just 7,000) or a brand new project
[...]

Salamanca has pulled out their bid considering there are already enough >40,000 stadia among the candidates and that they don't know if they would get funds to enlarge their stadium or build a new one. Their only strenght, as well as Badajoz's, was their closeness to Portugal anyway.

Oh, my... :o :D
That appears to be a popular concept on the net.
They obviously did not test the slogan for such coincidences before launching it.
