I wouldn't thank me here. Like I said, there is still speculation on why Sarajevo stopped wanting to host these Games because there hasn't been any clear explanations yet from all parties involved. Never mind that the links I posted earlier are just from American sources. This is starting to get fishy a bit here.
If I read anything in our press, I will post it here.
Thank you, DJ Bungi, for being calm here. I hope that the answers will come out truthfully. In any case, whatever the answers that may be, I hope Sarajevo does go for another Winter Olympics.
Thank you for support.

Great news - I liked the 2010 bid, although it got the poorest grades, I can see Sarajevo hosting 2018 with the most venues in place right now (of course needing reconstruction) and with minimal distences between them. Moreover they have good experience from the 1980 Games that aren't that far behind. Good luck!

Hopefully a bid can unite all ethnic groups.

If Sarajevo has shown its hand now, I'd say this is good news for PyongChang.  I think any IOC members wanting to award 2014 to a European site will have second thoughts now in order to give Sarajevo a fighting change for 2018.

Wouldn't that be interesting if the 2018 race would be the "S" race:  Salzburg, Sarajevo, Sochi, Sofia (maybe Sion)?
Sorry but I'm not quite sure I agree with your assessment there baron, I don't think the IOC will turn down what seems the most reliable (and tried and tested) of the 2014 candidates for the possibility that there maybe a chance of a Sarajevo bid four years later.  There are probably 101 reasons to vote for other bidding cities than Salzburg in the 2014 race but I don't think that is one of them really.
How can you be so sure?   :suspect:   R u in the heads of the likes of Princess Nora or D'amiel L'inessa of Dahomey?  No; you cannot discount it.  In any case, Winter Games voting history has shown that the #2 in a previous election gets the Big Prize the succeeding round it runs.  So, I think Salzburg's run is really futile.

The mayor of Sarajevo, Mrs. Semiha Borovac, announced yesterday in Torino that the city will bid for 2018 olympics.  Sarajevo will host Special Winter Olympics in 2009 and possibly alpine skiing European Cup the same year.

At least you can read the numbers. :P
Okay. There has to be some kind of sick joke here, but DJ Bungi, is Sarajevo is or isn't hosting the 2009 Special Olympic World Winter Games? You are saying "yes" in this post, but the International Games Archive website says "no."

As the result of this fiasco, bids are now being entered to take Sarajevo's place from the possible following: Poland, Germany, Reno (Nevada), and Boise (Idaho). This is according to the International Games Archive website.

Search on yahoo.com: "Special Winter Olympics 2009."

Yahoo! and some of these news articles dated from March 2005 says "yes."

However, all these says "no", dated from around February 2006, besides the International Games Archive: MSNBC, Reno-Tahoe Tourism, Times-News, and others. Most of all, this has been comfirmed by a spokesperson from the international organization responsible for the Special Olympics in Washington, DC.

I think it is safe and unfortunate to say that Sarajevo WILL NOT be hosting the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games.

This has been announced at the closing ceremony of Special Winter  Olympics in Japan last year.  I haven't heard of any changes.
Link to February 12, 2006, IGA article saying "no": Article From February 12, 2006

Link to February 9, 2006, press release from a Reno-Tahoe tourism website saying "no": Reno-Tahoe Press Release

Link to January 21, 2006, KBCI 2 news article from Boise, Idaho saying "no": A KBCI article

However, in light that the Special Olympics organization itself hasn't made any news about what will be the fate of these Games is left in speculation. The last link was really damning because it claims that Sarajevo relinquished hosting rights to these Games last DECEMBER!

Wow. Talk about a topic that has been lagging for a while. Anyway, I saw the tail end of some sports show that had some guy on rollerskates going down the "much damaged" Sarajevo bobsleigh/luge track for some contest. I thought it was completely destroyed. Any idea about when or if that track will ever be used in the future for its original task?
