Could somebody please add low res and high res images of the proposed West Side stadium for new york's Olympic bid. I'm trying to create a similar stadium and Google doesn't help much with the details of the stadium.

I have got some pictures on my computer, but I can't seem to upload them on to the site, however I have found the site that I got the images from:

http://www.viewimages.com/Search.aspx?mid=...;partner=Google
(image of a model of the Olympic Stadium)

http://www.sportsbusinesssims.com/new.york...adium.issue.htm
(A few images of the stadium, and the links probably have a few more as well)

Hope that helps!
Madrid 2016...They shouldn't win...or the Europe can't bid in 2020!
Rio 2016...shouldn't win...because it will be after Brazil 2014 World cup, and they shouldn't waste money

Chicago or Tokyo to WIN!!!!!!
(Chicago most likely to win since it will be 14 years after Salt Lake City)

I remember this was a very controversial stadium, can anybody tell me the reasons?

Well to put it simply, there were 4 core ideas, that made the new stadium highly controversial:

- High cost, which would have to be funded mostly though public funds (which could easily go out of control)
- Increased congestion in traffic and people to the already crowded West Side area of Manhattan
- The high likelihood of taking major events (particularly concerts) away from the nearby Madison Square Garden
- The non-assuredness that the New York Jets would move to the stadium as a permanent tenant, which would leave the stadium as a mostly empty stadium (with the occasional concert, annual sporting event, exhibition matches and perhaps a few set date Jets/Giants Games) for most of the year

And for the sake of it - the Javits Convention Center expansion right next to the stadium:

Mark Lamping, the St. Louis Cardinals executive, was lured away from his job almost two weeks ago to oversee construction of the new domed stadium.

Look for this stadium to earn a NCAA Final Four with excellent sightlines for basketball and possibly nab a future college football bowl game--the Gotham/Big Apple Bowl?

Definately the flaw in New Yorks plan, especially falling through a month before the vote forcing a quick rethink. I suspect also the flaw in any future plan too if they don't have an obvious tenant waiting to take it over.

I do like i'ts box like design though - nice to see something that isn't the usual oval.

Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis is more boxy than oval. It also looks more like a fricken warehouse than it does a stadium.
