Poznan Disappointed Over Youth Games Loss
Representatives of Poznan's bid for the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games said it was the financial guarantees which decided Poznan's defeat.
Nanjing guaranteed a budget of $140 million while Poznan proposed half the amount.
Poznan's mayor Ryszard Grobelny reportedly did not hide his disappointment and said, "all we really needed was only five votes to win. We managed to round up a few extra votes at the last minute but it was still not enough". He added, "we cannot do anything about the verdict now".
