Monterrey To Bid For 2018 Youth Games

Following Guadalajara's withdrawal from its bid for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, Monterrey is interested in bidding for the 2018 Youth Games.

Monterrey's bid for the 2014 Olympics was rejected by the Mexican Olympic Committee last year and now the city feels it has a chance for 2018 with Guadalajara's withdrawal.

Jose Antonio Hernandez Griego is heading a group that hopes to bring the 2018 Youth Games to Monterrey. He said "we have reinvented and started a new path in search of a long-cherished dream for all and from this moment we work on obtaining the Youth Olympics in 2018..."
