GamesBids.com: National Assembly Fully Supports PyeongChang 2018 National Assembly Fully Supports PyeongChang 2018 ================================================================================ GB Staff on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 10:32am EDT Members of the South Korea National Assembly from areas within Gangwon Province where PyeongChang hopes to host the 2018 Winter Games, have declared their support for PyeongChang's bid. The members met Tuesday and discussed how the National Assembly can support the bid efforts regarding preparations for the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Evaluation Commission visit in 2011, and in building venue and transportation infrastructures. The discussion focussed on the early construction of the double-tracked express railroad between Wonju and Gangneung via PyeongChang due for completion in 2017, which would act as an integral part of PyeongChang 2018's transportation scheme. Yang Ho Cho, Chairman and CEO of PyeongChang 2018 said, "we thank the National Assembly members representing Gangwon Province for taking the time to gather together and discuss the bid. The National Assembly has always been very supportive of our bid, already declaring the 'Resolution of Support for Hosting the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games' in June. We are very pleased that there is absolute commitment for our bid and the new infrastructure being built at all levels of government".
