Korea's Performance At Vancouver 2010 Boosts PyeongChang 2018
Korea's strong performance at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games should boost PyeongChang's bid for the 2018 Winter Games.
By Sunday Korea was sitting fifth in medal standings behind Canada, Germany, the U.S. and Norway, after collecting six gold, six silver and two bronze medals, reports the Korea Times.
PyeongChang's opponents for the 2018 Games bid are Munich, Germany and Annecy, France.
Kim Jin-sun, co-chairman of the bid committee, said "it is an important barometer in the selection of the host for the Games. It played a key role in Sochi winning the 2014 bid that Russia is a winter sports powerhouse, but had not hosted the Olympics".
