PyeongChang 2018 Holds Bid Workshop
PyeongChang 2018 held a workshop November 16 and 1 7 for its proposed Olympic bid in which about 70 secretariat staff members participated.
The workshop included on-site visits to Olympic-related facilities such as the IOC Hotel, Media Village and sports venues, followed by a lecture on the Olympic Movement.
The program included planting the PyeongChang 2018 flag at the top of Mt. Balwang where the Alpine skiing venue would be located.
Bid Co-Chairman Yang-ho Cho said, "we've worked hard to bring the Olympic Winter Games to PyeongChang for the past ten years now. I firmly believe when we continue to do our best, our efforts will be rewarded at the end of the day".
Meanwhile Joongang Daily reports in a move to bring the 2018 Games to PyeongChang, bid officials will seek the reinstatement of Lee Kun-Hee, the former Samsung Group chairman whose membership at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was suspended.
Kim Jin-sun, Governor of Gangwon and co-head of the PyeongChang 2018 bid committee, told a press conference that he would ask the government to grant Lee a special pardon and absolve him of a conviction for illegal bond transactions.
The IOC is expected to review the case and could decide to let the suspension stand or end the temporary banishment.
