Gold Medal Puck At Hockey Hall Of Fame
The hockey puck that Sidney Crosby used to win the gold medal hockey game in overtime at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics is being sent to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto where it will be put on display and at times sent on a tour around Canada.
It was also announced at a news conference Tuesday that four other pucks from the overtime period will be auctioned off.
The Star reports fans can bid on any of the four other overtime pucks and other Olympic souvenirs at vancouver2010.com/auction.
John Furlong, Chief Executive Officer of Vancouver 2010, said the sell-off of Games memorabilia is all part of the windup of the corporation created to stage the Olympics and Paralympics, adding that the proceeds of some of the items will go to charity.
Pucks collected in the warm-up and over the first three periods of the gold medal game have already sold at auction for as much as $5,900, he said.
