Reuters reports that Canada's largest airline, Air Canada, was forced to delay a flight from Vancouver during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games because passengers were watching the end of the gold medal hockey final between Canada and the U.S. on airport televisions, and ignored repeated calls to board.

Chief executive Calin Rovinescu said, "we incurred a flight delay for a reason Air Canada had not yet encountered in over 72 years of existence".

Meanwhile passengers on board Air Canada flights around the world during the game were kept appraised of the score by the flight crew that were receiving real time updates from operations control.
