The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games is in Rio for three days of meetings and visits to competition venues and units of the Pacification Police. The Federal, State and Municipal administrations are also included in the meetings.

Tuesday the president of the Coordination Commission, Nawal El Moutawakel, reaffirmed that Rio 2016 will provide a unique experience to all participants and said that the next IOC visit is scheduled in May when all the 18 committee should be coming to Rio.

Moutawakel is in Rio along with IOC Executive Director of Olympic Games Gilbert Felli, project manager Jennifer O'Brien, and design, planning and control consultant Grant Thomas.

Moutawakel said "we discussed how the organization of Rio 2016 Games will be managed and I am convinced that this is very promising partnership. There is no time to lose when it comes to the organization of the Games. Rio 2016 is working fast, and wonderful Olympic Games will be delivered if this pace is kept. We are all sailing on the same boat", she said. "We are here to help and stage a highly successful event".

Along with the Rio 2016 staff the meetings were attended by Minister of Sport Orlando Silva, governor Sergio Cabral and mayor Eduardo Paes.

One of the topics discussed was the establishment of the Olympic Public Authority which will be in charge of coordinating public services and the delivery of the infrastructure needed for the Rio 2016 Games.

The commission president specifically wanted to visit units of the Rio de Janeiro Pacification Police. She said, "security is always among IOC and host city priorities. We asked to visit the Pacification Police units because we were really impressed with the presentation about this project during Rio's bid process".
