There's just over a week for the public to make submissions to the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Medal Design Competition for the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games which are being held August 14-26, 2010 and the deadline for submissions is December 4. Information on the competition is at www.medaldesigncompetition.com. The public is invited to vote on the 10 best medal designs which will be submitted to an IOC jury that will elect the best design. Voting is to take place December 7 to January 2010. The winning designer wins a trip to the Singapore 2010 Youth Games to see his or her design awarded to the athletes. The winner will also receive a gold medal replica of the design. The winning design will be announced by January 31, 2010.
The IOC's Coordination Commission for the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games is to visit London for the second time this year on November 25 and 26. The commission, led by its chairman Denis Oswald, will hear updates from LOCOG and its local government partners on areas including sport, the Olympic Villages, venue and infrastructure progress, city operations, marketing, National Olympic Committee services, press operations, and the Paralympic Games, which will give the commission members an overview of the progress being made by LOCOG in preparing for the Games. Members of the commission will provide any guidance or share their Games experience with the organizing committee during its fifth visit to London.
