Vancouver 2010 Website Encounters Major Problems

Canadians hoping to purchase tickets online for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games
Saturday encountered hours of frustration, while a few hundred tickets were
reportedly sold, mostly through Vancouver 2010's call centre.
In a press release Vancouver 2010 said the problems prevented the planned sale
of 100,000 tickets that were to go on the block by 10 a.m. local time.
Ticket buyers trying to log onto the website could only get a message saying the
link appeared to be broken, or a Vancouver 2010 message asking them to try again
later.
Many GamesBids.com forum members also expressed their frustration Saturday.
Caley Denton, vice president of ticketing for VANOC said, "we are disappointed
that people wanting to purchase tickets today did not receive the chance to do
so - this is the first time we have had such an issue".
Vancouver 2010 officials now say about 100,000 more tickets will be available on
November 14.
