Sochi 2014 To Celebrate Progress At “YES!” Festival
Sochi 2014 is marking two years of progress since being appointed host city for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games Saturday. Russia's biggest names in sport and music will join with thousands of local residents and tourists at the "Sochi - YES!" Festival July 4, celebrating this achievement.
A football match between the city's top youth teams will be staged at the Sochi Central Stadium for the Sochi 2014 Cup, followed by a friendly game between a Sochi 2014 team and a "Druzhba" team of legends of Russian football, said a Sochi 2014 press release.
The Sochi 2014 team will be made up of members of the Organizing Committee and the Olympstroy State Corporation responsible for Olympic-related construction.
A gala concert featuring popular Russian musical artists will be staged in Sochi's Theatre Square Saturday evening.
Sochi 2014 says the city's infrastructure has changed dramatically, including brand new roads, tunnels, power substations and amenities, as part of a major ongoing transformation project to ensure the city is well equipped to host the 2014 Games.
