Tokyo 2016 To Learn From Experts
Two senior members of Tokyo’s bid committee for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games are in Barbados attending Legacy Lives 2008 January 29 and 30.
Legacy Lives 2008 features speakers and case studies from organizations including the International Olympic Committee, Commonwealth Games Federation, International Federations and city representatives from around the world.
Tokyo 2016 officials say they are there on a learning mission.
Yasuhiro Nakamori, Deputy Director General of Tokyo 2016 said, “Tokyo 2016 can learn from experts in the international sporting community to enhance our plans to deliver an incredible Olympic legacy. The legacy of the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games is one of the great assets of our bid”, adding “now we want to create a new, ultimately greater legacy for the next 50 years for the benefit of our city, country and wider region, but importantly also for the entire Olympic Movement”.
Masa Takaya, Manager, Planning and PR Division of Tokyo 2016 said, “Tokyo 2016 will create a model sports culture for young and older citizens, act as a catalyst for international sports cooperation, and see the introduction of innovative educational programs based on the Olympic Games and Olympic values”.
