Almaty Kazakhstan To Bid For 2018 Winter Games

Interfax reports that Almaty Kazakhstan will be bidding for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
City administration head Imangali Tasmagambetov told Almaty gold medal winners from the 15th Asian Games held recently in Qatar, “the 17th Winter Asian Games which will take place in Almaty in 2011 will be our bid for hosting the Winter Olympics and proof of our capacity”.
Almaty’s bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games was unsuccessful. A 2014 Winter Games host city has not yet been selected by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) but PyeongChang, Salzburg, and Sochi are still in the running. Write or read comments about this article
