2012 Host City Announcement To Be Broadcast Live In Trafalgar Square
London 2012 plans to turn the 2012 host city announcement into a “Thank You London, Thank You UK” party by broadcasting the host city results live on giant video screens in Trafalgar Square.
The event, being organized by London 2012 and the Mayor of London, will run from 12-2 p.m. to celebrate all that has been achieved by London’s 2012 bid and to thank Londoners and the rest of the UK for their support over the last two years.
There will be several live acts including a performance of the London 2012 bid anthem “Proud” by Heather Small, accompanied by community choirs from London.
London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe said, “I am very pleased that people will be able to gather in Trafalgar Square for this historic decision. It is also an opportunity for London 2012 to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who has supported the bid. Their backing has given us a real chance of winning”.
Londoners will also be able to follow the host city announcement at an event in Meridian Square, Stratford, near the site of the Olympic Park that would form the centrepiece of the London 2012 Games.
And thousands of young people at the SkillCity careers and training event in ExCel in London’s Docklands, host of six sports, will be able to watch the announcement on giant TV screens. Write or read comments about this article
