GamesBids.com: IOC Member Criticizes Sports' Olympic Selection IOC Member Criticizes Sports' Olympic Selection ================================================================================ GB Staff on Friday, October 9, 2009 11:50am EDT International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Dick Pound has criticized the IOC following the selection of rugby sevens and golf to the Olympic program in 2016. The Telegraph reports Pound said that the 106 members of the IOC had not been given the opportunity to vote on the five sports who had been excluded in August by the IOC's executive board. He also said that members were not given a reason why the two sports were selected. Pound added, "the fact is we were not allowed to consider all seven sports. That's a mistake - it's not fair to the other five sports, and because we do not know why this was decided, it is not a transparent process. "The session was asking for guidance, not a decision that would take it or leave it", he said.
