There are reports that Madrid, Spain is considering a bid for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games for the third time.

Spanish sports newspaper Diario AS reports that Alberto Ruiz Gallardon, Mayor of Madrid, has decided on a bid from Madrid.

Also Alejandro Blanco, head of the Spanish Olympic Committee, is in favour of a third bid, explaining that after the good will Madrid has built up over its previous campaigns, a third bid would not be too expensive.

During its two previous bids the city improved its infrastructure and sporting facilities, and work is soon to begin on developing the "La Peineta" sports stadium as the home ground of the football team. Atletico Madrid, the venue for athletic events, would not have to be constructed.

Many of the venues needed for the 2020 Games have already been constructed and little investment would be needed for events such as show jumping, tennis, football, cycling and athletics.
